Featured Monkey Business

Hi everyone:

This seems to be a home made mold piece but figured I'd post it anyway since it's heavier than most molds I've come across and has a mark.

Why the artist only chose 2 monkeys, not the usual 3, is also a mystery. As you can see, the Japanese Mizaru (see no evil) and Kikazaru (hear no evil) are there but no Iwazaru (speak no evil).

The piece is about 7.5" tall x 8" x 5" and about 5.5 lbs.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

 

I think the mark on the bottom is meant to resemble an English registration mark.

Are they maybe trying to improve their hearing and seeing? It looks like their hands aren't covering their eyes and ears but enhancing them.

 

Trying to see and hear what the other monkeys were trying to block out. Somewhere I'd bet there's a second monkey statue of a similar dude with a megaphone.(LOL)
