Unusual Ethnographic carving. Funerary Urn?

Hi, can anyone identify the origin and use of this fascinating ethnographic carving. My feeling is it may have been a funerary urn for ashes. Possibly from south or central America. Any informed thoughts greatly appreciated. Thank you.

 

I would think it's Indonesian, and probably Dayak, based on the carving, forms, and images. But I've never seen anything quite like this, so I wouldn't venture a guess on the purpose or use.

The "teapot" isn't a functional, teapot, is it? It doesn't look like there's a hole through the spout. There must be a story behind using the image like this, though.

Thanks for your thoughts - much appreciated! No, you are right there is no hole, so the spout is decoration only.

 

Looks like the Dayak carvers have found what sells well. Neither example appears to show any signs of use.

 

A popular tourist destination, and a popular destination for wholesalers of 'tribal art'.

 

That was my gut feel also. Tourist fantasy piece.
