    Hello,
I picked up this vintage Baylor auto yesterday in a box of watches and jewelry at auction. Info on Baylor is tough to come by. I found out that Baylor is a private label made by Heuer for Zales Jewelers. I checked eBay and googled around the web, but can’t find this specific model.

I’d like to get it open and see the movement but can’t seem to get the case back off. Each of the 4 corners has a small notch, but so far a miniature screwdriver and pen knife have been unsuccessful.

It’s keeping good time, 24 hours since ive had it. Can’t figure out how to adjust day/date though

Any watch experts here who might be willing to share some knowledge?

Pull the winder out once to adjust day / date and twice for time.
If its working ok no need to take the back off.

It's an autowinder, so I wouldn't open it anyway. Just slap it on your wrist so it can move around. If it starts ticking, it's working.

The winder does not have 2 positions. I did discover that pushing the crown in advances the date but have yet to figure out that day feature.

Reason I want to open it is for accurate description (# of jewels, movement SN etc) and photo for listing it for sale.

The day feature will be the other way to the date.

Not sure I follow. When the crown is depressed and released, the date advances. There isn’t an opposite direction.

it’s puzzling, but fun to find new details

To be fair I didn't

On my automatic watch if you pull the crown/winder out once it alters the date, pull it out again and it alters the time.

On this one, depressed once it changes the date, if its depressed twice it might do the time.

I am familiar with the normal day/date setting notch position on a pull out crown. Time setting is just the standard practice of pulling the crown out, turning it as needed, then pushing it back in

This is something completely different and I would assume there’s a good reason why it didn’t catch on and become more commonplace in the industry

Depressing the crown twice results in the date advancing twice. In ordinary daily wear, there’s nothing preventing a bump on the crown from advancing the date. Changing the date is so simple that it could happen accidentally, yet the day function remains a mystery to me.

Oh the joys of vintage watchmaking

    eHehehehe!!!!!
    OOOPsy !!

I had a watch where a hard push of the crown inwards....advanced the date...
but that was all it did..
