Any ideas on what this necklace is made of and its age?

    I picked this necklace up for pennies in a charity shop approx. 30 years ago, and curiosity has gotten the better of me after all this time.
    Has anybody ever seen anything like it?
    it seems to have beads of every ilk, from glass, to resin, to acrylic ... and is strung on what appears to be very old string or yarn ...

    It is exactly what you stated. A mixed bead costume jewelry necklace. Probably from the 1960s-70s.
    Not worth a bunch, but pretty!
