I have owned this piece for a few years. The client paid over $7500 for just the fabric as it was a custom order. All I had was the notation regarding the fabric price. I have looked at Medieval fabric because the 'Samson & Lion' motif was popular from the Byzantine days. I tried to sell it years ago when we acquired items from the estate (near Governor's mansion in Atlanta). I am at a loss. We have almost finished building our custom home and I have got so much furniture to sell but I would love to be able to provide more information about the fabric. Feels like a silk type blend? Approximate height of frame 26" (not including cushions), width 107", depth 34", seat height 16.5".
    Thank you for looking! sofawhiteout.jpg custom-post-modern-long-and-low-sofa-3670.jpg custom-post-modern-long-and-low-sofa-9838.jpg custom-post-modern-long-and-low-sofa-5965.jpg custom-post-modern-long-and-low-sofa-8435.jpg

It is so fun but very low. Originally, I was going to purchase and apply acrylic/lucite block legs. I still might.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

STUNNING PIECE!!!! Also looks like it was a WHOLE LOT of work to make!!!! I think I'd be afraid to even sit on it!! So, maybe you could take a cushion (although I don't see a SMALL cushion) to a custom Upholsterer?? (or several even, for appraisals and fabric identification??) Or, do what you've done her, with printouts of VERY good images of all over the couch??? But with the fabric ID, you might need a piece.....maybe from the underneath somewhere???? Best I can suggest, off the top of my bean!!!:joyful:

Good idea! I'd open the zipper on one of the cushions and look on the inside. With any luck they used part of the selvedge. That's where fabrics get marked as to whodunnit and where. You might get lucky.

Do you have the seat cushions on right? Looks like they should be flopped.

Actually.. to put it a bit more definitely... They need to be flopped so the pattern lines up. And the fabric will be to the trade 1970s from a company like Schumacher.

To the trade in spades. I can't see this in a fabric store.

Once every 36 inches on 60 inch-wide fabric or some such; I wouldn't want to mess with it.

No. Can imagine the trepidation the upholsterer had cutting into it.

Eh?? Whadya say?? Can't hear ya, that fabric is talking too loud!

Ok, really, it looks like polished cotton to me, possibly from the 1970s. Polished cotton was very popular then. My dad was a manufacturer's rep back in the day and we had a houseful of swatches. When any of them were MD'd, mom and I would make patchwork skirts and jackets out of them (all sewed together). During the 70s, it was polished cotton and weird velvets.

Definitely 1970s Eurotrash period. Screaming for a backgammon board.

This would be something I would expect to have been in one of the Anthropologie stores. BoHo Chic.

before buying feet i'd check the base can take them :)

I find the material although tons of fun, I can't really see it being commercialised with a ready made "tear" tissu.png and the greek godess with dog doesn't really fit with the other patterns.

reminds me of a friend who had material printed from an fabulous graphic 30's roll of wallpaper
my opinion, for what it's worth .....

Versace maybe? Do you know the year the fabric was purchased, and how many yards?
