Hi, my Mum came across this ring when sorting through my Dad’s old things, but I’m struggling to find any information online around the markings. Does anyone know what these mean? Thanks

@moreotherstuff has it pretty large and clear, I enlarged it a bit more, but that 3rd mark over is a "BUGGER"!!!! Kind of looks like "oa" only NOT that 'a' ....more of a script 'a' that I can't make 'paste' in.....but I wonder if there's a bit of a snake in that "cartouche"......maybe forming the 'O'???? I'm betting @Any Jewelry will see what I'm talking about!!

Aqui, I think that is two(?) letters, entangled the way monograms are.
I haven't got a clue what the marks stand for.:sorry:

Could it be the date is 1908 and if you put the two center marks together they could spell "BOA" which COULD make the 'snake' thought appropriate!!!! I know, I'm probably WAAAAY off base!!!!!!!!!!!!:happy::hilarious::D BUT strange things DO happen!!

@Any Jewelry, I enlarged AGAIN, and added pink and green overlay, lightly, and yes, it's probably turning into who knows what, but I wanted to outline gently what I was seeing.....the green sort of represtinging a second figure or snake....TO ME.....BUT now I also, at the bottom see minuscule writing that I can only verify a "16" ......OK I quit.....before I get miserable!!!:jimlad::jawdrop::joyful:

It looks like a double-struck mess, to me; first one, then the other...perhaps to obliterate? bwdik.

The cartouche isn't double-struck, which means what's inside isn't either.;)

Obvious...but I missed that. I once again bow to superior observation, AJ.

Diane, you say it’s gold, are there any other marks on it?

Thanks everyone for your comments so far. I just assumed it was gold because of the colour and the fact it had markings. So if it is a good colour but isn’t actually gold but still has markings, then what could it be? More importantly, is it anything of value?

Diane, could you post the entire ring, preferably from different angles?
