Featured Doulton Day (well, week really)

This week I seem to have collected more Doulton than I was expecting!
Some was free in the end of the day pile at the car boot last weekend and some I bought. I don’t really know how to recognise what is collectable and what is ‘return to car boot’ material. I’ll split it into several posts to avoid a muddle!
These were the free pieces.

Amazing what they'll give away, but I guess it saves them from having to pack it all for the umpteenth time.
I like the expressiveness (is that a word?) of The Jackdaw of Rheims, but I love the last one, with the sweet Nouveau flowers.

Those are all Burslem rather than Lambeth. Not massive value these days, the series ware is a bit out of fashion. That orange lustre always ends up scuffed. The best one, to my eye, is the nice Art Nouveau bowl, which would sit well in a modern decor.

 

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm an Art Nouveau kinda gal. Around here most old pottery lands in the "buy me please" pile. Monks behaving badly don't tend to play well here, too brown.
