Hello, I picked this up this week and was wondering if anyone was familiar with it. It marked in the corner but, I cant make it out. I think its either a litho or poster of some kind. The frame job looks old so I am assuming its old. I have not taken it out yet.

The marking is a reverse image. Is that how it actually looks or did you inadvertently reverse the image? Part of it says New York.

I think that may be a painting done from a photograph. This is Chief Joseph of the Nez Percé.

Yes images was inverted. You think it's a panting not something printed? That marking looks sort of looked printed to me.

Whether it is an original or a print is something I can't tell from the pictures. But it looks like it was originally drawn with Cray-Pas aka oil pastels.

It sure looks like Debora found your man!

If the painting is an interpretation of that Chief Joseph photo (and it appears to be) it exhibits unfamiliarity with Native dress and ornamentation by the artist.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I think you're right. I wonder what the word in the middle of the logo is? If the company sold drafting tools, I wonder what the relation to this picture of Chief Joseph was?

The mark is a blind stamp. The company sold paper.

Okay, the Wikipedia article linked by s_i_s says they primarily sold drafting instruments and supplies. Including paper, I'm sure, among the drawing materials. I guess the blind stamp was irrelevant to the picture, then.
