That watch is nice, perhaps too fancy to be 1914-1918 WWI 'Trench Watch', but maybe not,I'm no watch expert.Perhaps a ladies time piece,is that a garter or ribbon it's attached to w/ a small gold fob or latch ?

It's a lady's watch, but in the trench watch style. The band has gold-filled fittings, so marked, and those were why I wanted it in the first place.

My Ill Will is still here, but there's rarely anything worth bothering with. Anything good is usually stuff they don't want to ship - pottery and glass. If I find something funky enough for cheap, I can resell locally to another dealer. Otherwise I leave it lay.

In the last 10 years postage has gotten incredibly prohibitive.Early 2000's I sent everything Priority Insured, except for Europe,Japan, etc.Any big$ items would go to Sotheby's,Christies I guess.

Or similar; those big guys may get more eyeballs, but charge more fees too.

The jug is Tapio Wirkala's design called Ultima Thule. Made for Iittala Finland. Old design, still made. There's matching glasses.

Is that black mop or laboridite with marcasite? That's gorgeous.

I went to an estate sale an hour after it started and expected a mob, but not so. I have been to this company's sales before, they are pretty willy nilly, so I called the day before. They said not much costume jewelry, I asked if they gave tickets out, they said they do a "list" and give tickets out. Last time I went to one of theirs, they gave tickets out but didn't go by number order-who was at the door first got in first. Duh. Should have gotten there sooner. They left a young woman in charge who was basically giving stuff away-I got a free ice cream scoop. I got linens for the house, $5 each: reversible with pillow shams

Do they still make these or are they vintage? She did have a mix of new and vintage linens there.

Just a couple of thrift shop scarves. Polyester Picasso and faux silk Chanel, $2 each. It was a day for textiles. Got a black winter coat and Hawaiian shirts for hubby and my brother, too.

I also got a watercolor, unframed, by a local Cape May artist, Walter Kummerle. Can't find much about him, but it was half-priced picture day and got it for $2.50, and it matches my decor. And I like the colors. He exhibited at the local Soma Gallery in Cape May, their opening receptions are great.

Ida R. Larkin for sure. It's a lot clearer in person. No idea who she was, but doing those sheer sleeves properly in watercolor is a darned good trick!

Ittala? Cool. Knew it was something good. I scored an odd but interesting vase recently I was betting was theirs too.

MOP and marcasite if it's the round one.

These are the bits I forgot. Had the butterfly around forever. The back is repaired or soldered and I wasn't that curious. But... the stones are diamond, emerald sapphire and ruby. Oops! The ring is "cruise jewelry" - sterling and CZ. The pendant rings up with non-stone stones, but it's marked 18k. Haven't tested it yet but if so...oopsie.

Got a ton of stuff the last two days, not all jewelry, but these are my favorites. She was on the dollar table- check out her "glasses."

Always stories.....an older gentleman who used to set up and who I would buy mostly jewelry from found me looking at, what else, jewelry at my flea market. He said he had some jewelry in his trunk if I would like to see it. He had a some sterling, I got

a good price, and he kept trying to sell me this watch. I knew it was gold plated, he wanted $100, no way. He said he needed gas money, sigh, I gave him $30 for the watch. But I did get this in the pile of sterling, pieces averaged $5 a piece. Jane Seymour collection for Kay Jewelers, diamonds and sterling (looks a lot better than the picture.) And it fits!

And I have passed this up for about three visits to a second-hand store....I looked more closely at it and took a chance for $4. I think it is amber-extremely light-weight, warm to the touch, no two beads the same, on string, imperfections, and while it's not that dark yet, some stones are egg yolk color and I am seeing other things when I shine a UV light on it.

And I see amber prices are all over the place...how does one establish value? Note: I started a thread on the jewelry board with uv light pics.

And here is the watch of said story. It needs a crystal, don't know if it works, the back looks just like the front. It is marked that the "oro plata" is 10 microns thick.

I'd feel lucky getting $10 for that watch

Went to an estate sale Saturday morning. they have become infamous at overpricing. Got a few bits.

Went back today for 50% off on some bulk stuff. They were so high initially that 50% wasn't enough. Tried to talk him into a bit better. He wouldn't budge. I would have been spending $100 or so.

Talking with some regulars in the driveway one mentioned they had a bag sale at noon. In a couple minutes. Went back in , got a bag , and bought all the junk I wanted for $20.

Yeah, I am too soft. But hope springs eternal, I believe that to get you have to give. I bought all his sterling for $5 a piece. And I found good things everywhere I went today. Glad you got what you wanted-sometimes it pays to wait it out.

As you may recall, I bought a dolls house back in the winter. The spit image of my childhood one. Now, I'm buying innards. The yellow bowl is actually marked Addis.

Isn't it funny how we go back to things from our childhood as we get older? I am even starting to get sentimental over childhood things I sold or gave away.;)
