    hi folks

found these two imari cups today in our local charity shop for 50p each

just the cups though, no saucers

thought the mark looked a bit like an old derby mark, but doesnt look to be an exact match, might not be fine enough for derby, me thinks

one has an overglazed chip on bottom rim, and isnt marked

    any thoughts apreciated

They look right to me Charlie, Derby c1810, the marks are all over the place at that time - piecework

Ah brilliant thanks Ce b, I was hoping they were that old !

Though not as fine as some derby pieces, there was something about the colour of the gilding that looked derby

Brilliant thanks Obb, I was wondering what the correct name of them were, as they are a bit bigger than demitasse

Love them! The beautiful green isn't part of newer Derby imari patterns anymore. £20-30 for the pair sounds more like it than 50p

First quarter of the 19th century, some have dated sloppier red marks to as narrow a date as 1820-25 but theres not way to be sure.

managed to find 6 saucers in the same shop today, weren't there before, but perhaps donated by the same person

looks to be the same derby pattern

ya reckon they are from the same age period, as the marks are different
only 2 of the saucers are marked, one of them barely

not sure if they go with the cups or not, the bottom of the cups dont seem to fit into a similar size recess on the saucers

    any thoughts appreciated

Yep these are right too, that mark is 1825-40, so ever so slightly later, and bound to be some overlap too. Unmarked examples are also common.

I think these saucers were for the true straight sided cans.

Thanks obb, ya reckon the saucers would do well as a set of six, or better individually for people looking to find replacements ?

They are pretty much mint,no chips or damage

But then again, they do look nice as a set
