Featured Another ring ? Plus grouping lot/s

I’m getting in a bit of a muddle. Thanks to all regarding the posy ring last query which will go into Auction by itself now.
I’ve got another ring, think it’s aquamarine, 9ct with interior split shank.Not sure of the date and would you put it as a lot with the green stone one? I was thinking the red stone ring would go well with the 1885 9ct buckle ring.
Then which lot would complement the 9ct Acrostic pendant (spells out Dearest) best? I cannot read the minuscule date mark as it’s on the pendant ring attachment, (the ring chain catch just has 9ct on it) but when did this sort of gold cost counting dented back start to appear? Think maybe it’s not Victorian because of this?
Or do I put these all in together as a dealers lot? Thank you for any suggestions.

 

That 9 ct mark is typically late 19th up till about the 30s. I'd list them singly.

If you are talking about consigning to a real world auction you should talk to the auctioneer and get their advice. Whether you lot them together may depend on their charges, ie what their lotting fees are vs the commission. If the rings are in good order you may get more selling directly to a vintage jewellery seller. If the stones are unidentified you may get little more than scrap prices selling more modern pieces at auction - the antique ones would be fine though, but the more modern ones are not likely to raise a lot of interest.

 

It’s £3 per lot then 15% commission on the sale price which is pretty good. The Auctioneer does have a proper stone tester which I don’t have but I think the combined knowledge of the jewellery people here is greater than hers. That said I will ask her about these pieces and will put a reasonable reserve on them, above scrap and charges.
I know I won’t usually get top dollar but that’s ok, occasionally things do better than I expect which makes up for the ones that don’t do so well.

Just wondering... the posy ring you are referring to... do you mean the flower shaped one in your previous thread? If so, I've not heard such a ring called a posy ring.
A posy ring is a simple gold band with a sentiment inscribed inside.

Our auctioneers are so expensive you end up giving them the item AND paying them for the privilege of selling it….and lotting fees, and photography fees, and insurance and whatever else they can think of to avoid paying you at all

That's not bad at all for a small batch of items, lotting fee is very reasonable.

Can't say I've come across posy ring very much, often see them called flowerhead or daisy though.

 

My local ones are £2 quid lotting, ten percent commission.

 

I don't know if there's a generally accepted name for them, but I would call it a forget-me-not ring with memento compartment on the back.

 

I sure like the one marked 9K, with the big green stone, especially for those individually twisted bezel supports...High Craft, imho. Thanks!
