    Hello again,
I am still spring cleaning and came across this necklace which I bought as “baroque pearls” some time back, but now looking at them, something feels different.
They look like pearls, they are natural, they are different in size and shape, but they feel heavier than other pearls I have… what do you think?
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,

I see no reason to think they are not genuinely pearls, although probably produced with some human encouragement. Any pearl that is not spherical is 'baroque'. Some of these are also 'circle' pearls.

Really pretty necklace, Simona. Cultured baroque pearls.
Cultured is the human encouragement @Bronwen mentioned. A piece of mollusc tissue is placed inside the mollusc, and in order to protect itself from the 'intruder' the mollusc begins to produce nacre, and a pearl is made.
Maybe a slower growth process with higher density? Just speculating.;)

Just making the distinction between 'real' & 'natural'.

Yes, these are real pearls, but not natural pearls.
They are cultured pearls, made by real living molluscs that were teased by humans.

and thus begins the conversation of the mental health of distressed pearls ....and how we should be supportive of them and their families....

And please consider that many of these molluscs suffer from first as well as second generation trauma.:(

    :stop: to mollusc bullying!
