70's Oil Painting With Children

Cannot find any signature on the canvas. Don't know if that Illya on the stretcher is the artist or the previous owner. Probably an amateur?

 

I'd think a commercial artist.

NCIS is tracking down the provenance.

Poor little children; they have no faces.

 

No hands, either.

Actually, I rather like it - from a distance it wouldn't matter about the lack of facial details or that the ones in the foreground all have their hands in their pockets. The wooded oasis (picnic spot?) is drawing them in.

 

Since my children were "70s kids, I find it very charming, and very 1970s!

That's not what I remember about the 70's....!

 

Kinda creepy. Bright, sunny day, kids dressed for beach or play and they're all going into the deep, dark woods.

 

Russian. They are going to Bald Mountain.

That sounds about right.....70s kids were always alone, without any parental supervision whatsoever.

 

My girls were born 1966,68 and 69....I was an overly protective hen....strict too.

 

If you like 70's music I suggest you listen to WOGL in Philadelphia. I do so on my iPhone.
