I have one more year to get 25 years in to get full benefits. I am buying back a month that I took a leave for to care for my dad when he was dying. I have a pension audit in, submitted end of July 2021, they can't get to it until February 2023. I might do a half year after the year to get to full SS age...depends on Covid.
The yellow glass beads are W. Germany, $2, leopard jasper earrings $3, jasper necklace with sterling clasp $3, quartz neclace sterling clasp in the middle, $3, 20220626_160813.jpg baby shoe charms, 50 cents each, shell cameo, costume, $4.

Talking Julia doll a bit rough. She had silver nail polish all over her face. Missing pull string, legs glued on (legs detaching a big issue in talking Mattel Barbies), her outfit is rare, only sold in a Sears exclusive gift set one year. I am working on her face slowly. $7. 20220627_075938.jpg

I guess the two biggest finds were these....thrift shop 14k Diamonique ring, $8, and flea market Mikimoto brooch, $5.

I left a few years early...my folks were needing more and more help and I was also a bit tired of the changes (even back then) with public education!!! I left in 2004 (when they had the "early retirement (age) option.)
I did have 0ver 30 years in NJ pension system and at that time and got medical benefits...they were thinking of taking that away...did not want to give that up!!!

    That Guerlain is lovely.

I've been on a roll for glass lately, huge bag of Whitefriars yesterday. BUT NO JOOLS.

Just this, which amused me. Fifty pence.

Bear, my set of sister thrifts, one thrift said they aren't getting a lot of jewelry. I bet they are, but those are the ones the manager sells to dealers. Another set of sister shops, one is loaded, the other not.

I love everything Guerlain....unfortunately, I don't have a Norstroms near me where I can sample the new sets. They also phase out a lot of my favorites. I am trying to hunt down Anqelique Noir... loved Jardins de Bagatelle, Moscow, Champs Elysees (FAVORITE), husband likes Mon Guerlain. I buy him Habit Rouge.

It's weird. My car boot sales sometimes have LOADS of bling, but this week, nada.

    Amazing glass though.

I wouldn't know valuable glass if it bit me on the butt. Show us the glass!

The dealer has eclectic items, mostly much more modern. I’m sure she has never seen anything like this before.

I showed it to a friend Saturday while we were doing an antique show because she has 2 similar pieces in her booth. She said it looks like ivory to her, she also said I need to double my asking price

I paid practically nothing for it, I think I will take it to a local jeweler I trust and ask if they can open it, there is schmutz on the the inside of the glass. Maybe they can clean it for me.

Holy crumbs, we've been a busy lot lately. Of course this weekend will be deader than Frankenstein's off-cuts, so I guess it was a case of get it while you can. For those not in the USA, July 4 is a Independance Day and a major holiday. Kills tag sales dead, and at least in my area pretty well kills them for the Summer.

Must say I envy that Guerlian bottle. My Lord&Taylor closed shop, and they were the only seller in the area. (and that Miki brooch - were the other buyers blind??? Good for Marko that they were.)

Yeah, the seller of the Miki was a huge jewelry dealer....bought a lot of those stone necklaces off of her. My sharks are guys who tend to bypass pearls.

Ran into some sharks like that myself once. This couple used to go around picking up everything that looked like gold, even the obvious costume and loupe it all. One time they looked over all the gold-plated chains but overlooked a sterling Trifari set. You can bet I didn't! Sold it on eBay when sales to Europe were still a Thing.

And not all gold is marked. I've seen numpties like that, they spend hours looking for British hallmarks, ignore the rest.

I ran into a guy at tag sales with a testing kit. I use my eyeballs. Works about as well and I don't get sellers or other buyers POed at me.

May have missed two gold bangles at a sale a few weeks ago, a friend bought them (lucky stiff) but they may not have been there to see. It was a trunk sale and one lady with overpriced jewelry was a real pill who didn't put everything out.
