    Hello friends,

It's been a while since I've visited this beautiful forum.

First of all, Happy New Year to you all !!!

I would like to propose to your attention this beautiful ceramic "vase" ^ _ ^ ?

Very particular, it measures 25 cm in height.

On the bottom there is written "graffito e dipinto a mano"

    so...it is an Italian element,

and means "scratched and painted by hand".

Then there are some numbers: 13.9 / 25.

Possibly, could it be a date? Sept. 13 1925 ?

(even because in Italy the day is inserted first, then the month and then the year ....)

    Then there is a number, "30" ...

    From this data and style,

I would like to be able to find the manufacturing company,

even if I realize that it is very difficult.

Thank you all for your answers.

    Gianluca

Yes, sgraffito, but some kind of model or pattern numbers rather than a date. The 25 is probably the height you mentioned.

We've had one of these before, and Walter identified it. But when it was and who posted it....?

If it can be useful, the auction house from which I won it described it as a ceramic vase with floral polychrome decoration, attributable to the Urbino manufactories ... but I do not understand what it means

I am sure Walter can explain more about it, and if it is Urbino made or not.
He has been tagged and he always answers, but that could take a little longer because of the holiday season.

I cannot be certain where the vase was made or who made it but a clue to its age is the use of the term “Di Pinto A Mano”. The terms Made by Hand, Hand-Made, Hand-Painted, etc, are terms that emerged after the end of World War II (1945) and found mostly on European pieces intended for export to the U.S. in the 1950’s. The term was meant to accentuate individual artistry and craftsmanship and inferred that they had a quality, and therefore a value, that mass produced items lacked.
