    Here's a 12 1/2" by 9 1/4" oil painting of a fairy-it's unsigned and I'd love to find out who painted it.
It looks to be from the Victorian period to me and was relined (mounted on a newer canvas panel for restoration/preservation) sometime in the past.It was relined by using either a heated wax/animal glue method.
The frame it came in was nice but no older than 1950's-70's.This piece was executed quickly and was probably made as a study for perhaps a larger finished painting. The painter seemed to me to have a fairly high skill level-it was quickly done on unprimed canvas in pencil and oil.
The nails in the frame are copper and there's a number lightly written on the back-'73444' (very faint).
    Any guesses welcome-love it and sure would like to find out who did it-Thanks ! Fae1.jpg Fae2.jpg Fae4.jpg Fae5.jpg Fae6.jpg Fae00.jpg
