The actual images of the man and woman appear to be embellished photo-images incorporated into the etched scenario. It's very well done, he's a good artist.

Thank you. That's more than I expected. Sounds like either an opening bid or a BIN.

Yeah im.sorry for the verbage being some what all over the place. I guess to summerize is that i could only find copies of these type of prints on loc.gov and this particular one is not on there. So should i have it archived with a museum or is it ok to.just sell it. I guess thats my main delima.

Ok its signed by two people and when i look them up it states them both as being artist and one as an etcher. But its a print but its not mordern day print. You can see the lines over the paper so i dont know.how things were printed in 1897 but its definetly not like anything ive seen. But the picture is large. Im not there to measure it it but its quite big. So looking at it you can see the fine print stated it was printed for the queen. I think its really cool. Aparently a series of these pictures were made with the same couple of old people. I can only find info on these pictures at loc.gov

Not printed for the Queen: the printer may have a Royal Warrant - permission to claim that goods and/or services have been supplied to a Royal.

It is an intaglio print - an etching. Figtree3's link above very likely does identify it under the title "Constancy" in an unnumbered edition of 300

As Kronos supplied above, info from the Worthpoint link: a comparable framed print sold in 2018 for $199.99.

I think the link Debora posted above suggests that is a reasonable expectation, but that is an opinion based on what I see in this thread, not on any personal experience.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Hi, I'm sorry -- I should have been more clear. The post I didn't completely understand was the first one by Cecilia Swart. I did understand your original post.

  14. found some information on the remarque artist proof etching. an etching of an original painting done by British artist Walter Dendy Sadler (1854-1923). Engraved by James Dobie 1849-1923). signed in pencil in the margin by both Sadler and Dobie, with a remarque of a kitten licking milk from a bowl at center in original condition, was copied from an ETSY site 12/26/2020. this one was titled "tea in the garden: mine is titled village gossips,my frame is 28 1/4" by 36 1/4" has been cleaned and rematted in 1999. Note says original paintings chosen for prints were etched on copper plates. when they were done, both artist and etcher signed each print. These are called Remarque artists proofs, and are more valuable than just prints.Mine has three Ravens in the center on the bottom. Hope this helps you.

The three ravens on the bottom are probably the remarque. A remarque is an additional little drawing added below the principal image (less commonly to the side). The print that started this discussion has a remarque of a grandfather clock.

Is this yours? (The price is more what I expect.)

Added color will add a bit of value. A good frame will probably add more than the value of the print alone.

The print in that link is also pencil signed and has the raven remarque. How much an Eastlake frame is worth is beyond me.

  18. was told in 1999 when it was cleaned and remated 1500.00 the whole thing he estimated he would sell for 2500.00
