These days you can't charge buyers for the insurance, at least not openly. You have to build it into the sale price or the handling fee if you ship by weight.

The Client on Ebay,The Holy of Holy,bat-poop mad or not-is a living god.I've heard Ebay now is all about the Buyer, with little consideration for Seller Ratings-Yeah,Nay,or who the heck knows ?

WOW! Evey-I used to include an Itemized Bill that Openly Listed-'Handling' (a buck or so),'Insurance' (as per USPS dollar amount),and 'Signature & or Registered' (if they wished). I never marked anything up,just added on (stated so in the Invoice) what the US Priority Mail Charged.
*** So it's against Ebay Rules to (openly) charge/invoice for Insurance,etc-or is it just an unspoken rule ?

I disagree. It is the seller's job to adequately pack the item so that it survives shipping.

To keep your name clean-you'll need to have the cash to cover any refunds.Just surprised it's not an upfront thing sellers mention anymore on their Listings.
Just to clarify-the Seller covers the cost of Insurance now legally on Ebay ?

There are still sellers who charge for insurance & get away with it just like a lot of things that go "unnoticed" by the eBay bots.

If I come across something that I want & they are charging for insurance I just calculate it into the most I am willing to pay for the item.

Only if you can get away with it (see above) or you include the cost into your asking price or opening bid.

So being honest & upfront re charging Buyers for Insurance is an Ebay Bot 'No-No' ? Is it considered a misdemeanor, underhanded or an insult ? How can you calculate for Insurance if your $3 Ashtray sells for $250 instead of the expected $20-30 ? Most mysterious indeed.I'll need to consult Swami... The Blue Raja BLUE.jpg

If it sells for ten times what you were thinking, you can shell out for the insurance. Such a problem to have! (don't we wish)

Yep,I never thought having a Snake Tat on my neck or face was a good idea- unless my life's ambition was to be a bouncer at a vegan goth strip club.
