Webp.net-resizeimage.jpg Webp.net-resizeimage (1).jpg Would love to here some thoughts on this piece. I bought it at a general sale with a few other bits and have no idea where it came from.

Looks like a piece of jewellery in Eqyption style? Possibly a Grand Tour souvinir?

The cats seem to be carved from stone rather than made from clay.

    Thanks!

I agree Komokwa, that was my first thought but there's a broken piece that doesn't look like composite when you look closely. Maybe it is though?

Thats true :) Just thought id share since they do have a similar look and came from the same place. In the same lot was also a roman style oil lamp and some small (6") sarcophagus figures of the same appearance. I suspect that they are all copies of ancient artefacts, maybe quite old, maybe not.

Jackals/dogs, rather than cats. Cats are depicted differently. The beads may well be ancient, they're found widely and aren't expensive.

I'd like to see the wee sarcophagi. They may be ushabti.
