Found this at my local thrift, Couldn't pass it up, After i set it down three times and walked away. finished my shopping and went back and purchased it.
The painting is oil on canvas and measures 30" x 15" frame is massive 38" wide x 23" tall.
Price tag for a Van's in Sacramento and Stockton CA, Never heard of them and couldn't locate. But I really liked the price sticker.
I have it hanging in my bedroom till i figure out what to do.
Maybe auction would be the best venue?

I can see why you were attracted to it. 1970s from the frame. Clars has some experience dealing in his work.

Yes they do. I just looked at their previous auctions for his paintings. I'm very pleased.
Most all of his paintings are of a much smaller scale. If size matters lol

Size could matter but you'd have to know more about the artist's oeuvre (e.g. the canvas size he typically worked with) to understand how. What could also matter is complexity of subject matter; something like this, although smaller, might garner more interest among collectors.

  6. The title of that painting is Nature morte aux trois pommes. It was offered for auction by Vente Courante which is in Caen, France in April 21st of 2022. The auction estimate was E 200-300 but was not sold. It was on page 3 of their catalog.

'Nature morte aux trois pommes.' What else?

  9. Yes that is odd. Not only that the frame is different. However the size is the same. Leads me to believe one is a copy or print.

@Debora I have gone over this painting and see no reason it is not an original. Unless there is a way of printing on canvas without
The dot matrix seen on regular prints.
    This is just strange!

That is strange. I'd still like to see the entry in the auction catalog.

I see there are prints of his work but they were packaged like this. Size 12.5" x 10".

    I couldn't find prints!
I did find some information on my frame and Van's.
    I'll be posting after work.

If I read that correctly, Van's was opened from 1949 until 1960 when it was renamed Van's and Taylor's and then became Taylor's in 1975. And Van's had stores in both Sacramento and Stockton.
