No point in buying finer than necessary if it's just going to go smash.

Seikos are my favorite. I have my 1975 purple-faced wind-up from high school graduation. I had the box for the longest time.

When I have more time, I have to dig around and see where the watch is and find out if it is indeed a Seiko.

In 1975 I was fighting for a living, literally, 75% of my working hours involved violence and I went through a watch a week, I bought cheap Timex or Smiths because I knew they wouldn't last long.
still it was better to bust a watch than my teeth or nose.

I have not bought a watch for 30 years, I use the good ones I find in house clearances, but I still break them :hilarious:

I broke a Tag Heuer last week.

These are watches of choice at the moment.

    Rolex, Armani, Seikos,Sekonda.

Does anyone have any info on this? Picked it up at a boot sale, it is very heavy- is it copper? Roman kind of head and maybe a griffin? Just guessing…

IIRC that's from a liquor bottle.(LOL) I have a similar one. Or did - may have given it away. Mine was base metal with a bronze coating.

Greek, not Roman. Sold as little souvenir pieces on the islands. She's a sphinx.

What a day. It was all cloudy, supposed to rain, so I didn't get out of bed at 5 am. My bad- it was bright and sunny down the shore. Got to yard sales late, can't locate a little sterling garnet and pearl bracelet I got for a dollar (I know I should have been at that yard sale early.) Stopped at an estate sale, everything was vastly overpriced, but I decided to walk around again. Good thing I did. Then on to an outdoor barn sale, found a few things, but that's not the biggest news. I was at a booth where there was a small case of cameos, and another woman was there. I picked up one, it was cracked, picked up a GF necklace, price was $60, not worth half that, put it down, cleared my hands (I always show my hands palm up leaving, old casino dealer habit.) I am buying jewelry at another table and a woman comes up to me and says I was at her friend's both, and did I "misplace" a cameo? So she was asking me if I stole it. I was really ticked, told her no, there was another woman picking up ALL the cameos. After I paid, I went over there and showed the seller the two items I picked up and put down and said there was another woman there looking at cameos. She then proceeds to tell me it couldn't be her because she was still there looking at things. Seriously? I just walked away.

It was getting dark here, so I didn't photograph everything. I bought this 800 silver cameo at the barn sale, she is a pendant/brooch combo, missing a marcasite, $20.

I got these things from one seller, all $5 each.

The seller said these are glass, they test as rock.crystal, sterling.

Posting a question about the markings on the jewelry board. Update: these earrings are by this guy, for reference only:

I was looking at rings at the barn sale, and I found the seller and she said they were only costume, and $5 each. Upon hearing that, another woman swooped over and grabbed a lot. I am not fighting people over stuff, they were newer, no great loss. I will post some pics tomorrow.
From the estate sale...these were higher up on a shelf, caught them the second time around.
These are not marked sterling that I can see, but the loops holding the pendants are soldered. $2 for both. 20220528_174737.jpg
These were in a box for $3 for both, opened-back aurora borealis. 20220528_175236.jpg

One of the $5 maybe sterling rings I got. The top ring is supposed to be sterling, fab fake$10, we'll see if it turns my finger green.

I would say you did very well, even if you left later than expected. Here on LI the weather was cloudy, rainy, sunny, then the sky turned black and we had thunder and pouring rain and then the sun.
