    Hey folks! Happy Sunday :)

My latest find. Kind of love this piece, but couldn’t find much information about it.
It’s quite large chocolate pot (I think). Capacity approx. 1,2 litres and height approx. 21 cm.
Just two impressed stripes underneath, nothing else. Number 1 inside the lid. Any ideas who, where, when…?

    Thanks in advance!

The wide pour spout makes it more likely a hot water jug than a chocolate pot.

    Pretty!

Hot water or syrup (molasses) jug, I think.

Looking at it again, possibly a cider jug.

I will gladly drink cider from this one. Is wine allowed too? :p
I am amazed that I am not able to find similar jug to this anywhere else :(
Could it be Swedish? I know they used on some pieces two impressed stripes...

Lovely. I get a German or Austrian vibe, but this is not my area of expertise.

Might even be cold water. But yes, that ewer shape isn't chocolate or coffee or tea. I'd agree on German or Austrian - aj, do you recognise her costume?

It is difficult, because many costumes changed rapidly in the late 19th-early20th century. For instance Dutch and Breton lace caps were much more simple in the 1860s than in 1900, you wouldn't recognize some of the mid 19th century ones as Dutch or Breton.
I have books on 19th century German and Austrian costumes, and this doesn't ring a bell.

But since porcelain painters of the day loved to paint Balkan and Greek girls, I would think in that direction. Balkans probably, with all that coral. Looking at the way the bodice is closed, with a lace, it would have to be northern Balkans.
Maybe not an accurate rendition, but an artist's take on a Serbian or northern Croatian costume is possible. With some costumes from that part of the world the girls wear flowers in their hair.

I wondered about that but then thought... cold water jugs don't usually have lids? One would think that the lid would help keep the heat in for hot water.
