Banded agate round things

So I promised that I’d finished posting for today but…..I bought a tin of old buttons and I’ve just sorted through it and it was full of goodies!
These two lovelies were in there but what are they?
Quite big and heavy at 3cm across. I’ve seen similar before but I can’t place what they are!
Any ideas please?

Bachelors buttons - basically, for dress shirts.

 

Are they?! Wow they would make a statement as they are huge. How would they attach? Off to Google

Any idea how old they could be?

 

Given how big a thing carnelian and Scottish hardstone was, might be as early as the late nineteenth century. Still very wearable.
