    Hi all. I found these today and hope they are what I thought they might be. I picked them up,looked them over ,set them down and left. Got to my car and kept thinking "13 ,Isnt that for loth?" so I u-turned and walked back in and got them. They are 12 inches high and 4 wide at base.I think they are beautiful,what say you? Am I right ? Are they real silver ? Id love to find out the age. The fact they are hollow intrigued me,as did the lead weight on the bottom of the one. Love to hear yalls input !

    Yes. 13 is usually associated with the loth system of fineness measurement.

    13/16 lothig equals .813 fineness. So if you're planning on scraping them make sure you don't use a sterling .925.

    Thank you all SO much ! I am gobsmacked ! And absolutely thrilled at the age ! I cant believe Hoodwill let those slip thru at $4.99 each with 40% off ! Bakersgma,I assume its lead but who knows what that metal weighing the one down is ? Part of what I call "the vultures" were actually there and how they missed these I'll never know. They miss nothing ! Thanks to this board I knew the 13 was something (if I couldnt quite recall what!) and yet another example of how much Ive learned from you all. :)

    komokwa The Truth is out there...!

    it's likely lead...but since it's on the outside and not internal that may have thrown others off it !!!!
    but not you ......:happy::happy:

    There is "H 111 " on 3 of them,and what looks like roman numerals for 12(?) xII .I couldnt find any other marks so far,but I havent polished them yet.

    I have never seen an item made or partially made from silver or plate that had a part that was lead. Spelter maybe, but lead no.
