Early 20th century Dining Table

Discussion in 'Furniture' started by Mr V A Tomarin, May 5, 2022.

  1. Recreation of an 1800s style table. British manufacturer but the label is long gone.

has a single leaf and 6 chairs. Twin claw foot base.

1920s or 30s? But what's the question. A lot of us are American or elsewhere and we need all the help we can get. They were still using some of those brass feet here after WWII, until they got the factories up to speed when the guys came back and styles changed.

There's a typo in your title that you'll want to correct. (It's dining.)

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those Duncan Phyfe style feet, ergo the whole table and chairs??? Wait.....I'm NOT positive on the chairs!!!!

Sorry. I don't know either. Perhaps someone else will be able to help us.

why do you think it's a British repro?

It looks American to me, but if it's in the UK it's unlikely to have been exported. Y'all make too much nice furniture of your own to bother with American repop. Unless a GI family took it with them from home and left it there? Officers used to get big freight allowances.

The penny drops! Canada imported a lot of things from the UK instead of buying from south of the Border. Y'all got Dinky toys and Triang stuff along with Matchbox and Lionel trains. I can't imagine furniture being much different.

Which explains why y'all got more of the cool stuff than we did, at least in some areas.
