    Hello everyone,
I have came across a interesting artwork by goberg. Its a candle holder, also has an bowl and a card holder that you can see in the picture It’s quite tall and looks genuine.
I’m looking for any useful information in particular about this metal craft. Would be a great help.

    Thank you,
    Arena

    Arena, what a wonderful find!

I was not familiar with Hugo Berger/Goberg, so I went searching. Wow - what a creative, prolific line of production!

I am certain there are others on this forum who will be able to address your questions. Just be patient, as different people visit at different times all around the clock!

Am quite familiar with Goberg and this is not a piece I have seen before. Unfortunately, Goberg is underappreciated. Would expect an advanced Goberg collector to be interested but few else.

    JMHO.
I feel a bit uneasy about the values given to such - most probably post WWI - products. they look a bit randomly made.
I understand that the old cigar cutters may attract some attention by smokers.
all in all most products are better bought from real arts and crafts manufacturers, especially the English ones that used the same rivet-look.
the really sought-after were the erotica figures in the style of the Viennese bronzes - that's also the initial reason for hiding the name.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes.

I have looked thought the similiar works of style and I can only seem to find similar works but nothing like the one I have. Would this metal craft I have would been manufactured/created multiple times or would this be one of a kind type of work?

I'm sorry, Fid, I looked at the link you provided and saw some Goberg but I didn't see anything like what Arena has. Why do you think it was mass produced?

To me this is kitsch. The big prices shown by the online sellers are there to catch newbie, knownothing collectors who make the big mistake of equating pie-in-the-sky prices with value.

Not sure how anyone could think their example is unique when other nearly identical items have been linked. As has been said, same basic junky-looking Knight mixed with various accessories. Find one that sold in a real auction and I seriously doubt you’d see prices over $100. This is a typical thing you’d find in a thrift for $20., imho.

Oh, I see what you mean now. I didn't catch on to the swapped out accessories thing. Maybe some day I'll develop a trained eye like the rest of you! :shame:

    a bit low...:)
I see the brand Goberg rather as a victim of the internet and platforms "we can't remember the name of". the markets need new hypes, so what is easier than taking a known brand and giving ALL its products a value it never had.
