Two Necklaces that I would appreciate opinions on...

I was just given a bunch of vintage and older jewelry. Among them were these two necklaces. The first appears to be brass with beautiful purple glass (although I haven't tested them yet). The second one is definitely a blue glass pendant with seed pearls woven together at the top. The odd thing about this one is that the spring ring clasp is on the side of the chain instead of the top. I would appreciate any information about age or country of origin. There were lots more old pieces that I will share when I get pics taken.

There are serious chips on the blue pendant but it is still lovely.

Sorry, I didn't give sizes. The purple glass pendant is 2" tall and 1 3/4" wide with an 18" chain. The blue one is just shy of 1" square and has 24" very fine chain

The blue one has had a tough time. Besides the chips on the pendant you re starting to lose the pearls. My guess on the chain is it broke and was fix without adding chin to make both sides even.

Good point on the chain Marjorie. I hadn't considered that. I knew it was in tough shape overall and pretty much unfixable but it was a beautiful piece originally I suspect. Any idea how old it is? I was thinking from the 1920's.

How lovely to be given vintage jewellery to sort through, my idea of heaven!
The purple one looks saveable although the chain has some issues. I think it will look fantastic cleaned up.
I’d give it a brief vinegar bath and see how it comes up. (@Ownedbybear do you agree? Have to check with the boss that I’m giving good advice :hilarious:)
White vinegar and stand over it like a hawk as if you leave it in too long it will strip the metal and it will go pink. You just want to get rid of the verdigris and brighten the metal. I’d soak it for about a minute and watch it until it brightens, pull it out, wash it well with dish soap and decide if it needs another minute. Some metals take hours of soaking but not usually with this type.
The other one sadly doesn’t seem to have any undamaged parts. The pearls are goners and the chips…..:arghh:

Yup, I'd give it a vinegar bath. And yes, white and not for long. That other one was once a lovely thing. Sad!

Great advice! Thanks. It is such shame that the blue one has so much damage. I will share some of the other pieces later this week. I know there are two antique lockets.
