    Hello guys,

I am new on this forum (I do not know how it is possible that I did not find it earlier), so greetings to you all ;)

I get some porcelain - almost full coffee (or maybe I am wrong and it is a tea set?) manufactured by MZ Altrohaul CMR. I analysed marks and I found out that it could be made between 1909 and 1922.

I spent a lot of time to find a pattern like this one on the internet. I searched google graphics by different phrases (like roses, tea set, coffee set) but did not find anything even close to it.

If you could help me with this guys or maybe you want to write something more about this porcelain, I would be really grateful.

Have a good day and thank you for your time!

    Hi Kiki!

    Welcome to Antiquers..........

I believe coffee set is correct.

It doesn't appear to be antique, but I have not googled the mark.

    You might look here https://www.replacements.com/
    for a pattern name.

Others will be along to offer help.

For better search results, the name is Altrohlau, not Altrohaul.

    Thank you for your responses!

I am sorry for my embaressing mistake with a company name @Bakersgma. Thank you for pointing that out. I tried to edit my post, but unfortunately I cannot edit the thread name.

Right now I do not know whether or not I would keep it or sell it (but I would like to keep this porcelain, I really love it), but one more thing - somebody told me that it is not a full coffee set, that is why I wrote almost full. Do you know what am I missing here?

I really don't know what might be missing, but are the 2 single plates behind the cup and saucers plus a plate the same size and shape as the plates with the cups? Maybe it was originally service for 12 and you are missing 2 cups and saucers? Maybe a serving plate for cake/cookies or such? You also have a large bowl, but no small bowls for individual servings of berries or something? I do not know what the pitcher is for (you already have a cream & sugar pair.)

Just in case - Czechoslovakia didn't exist until the Versailles Treaty in 1919 and broke up after the Iron Curtain fell in 1990. In 1992 I think??? The pattern looks more 1978 than 1918, but it could be 1960s or into the early 1980s too for all I'd know.

    MZ is for Moritz Zdekauer

"The MZ Austria marks were used by this porcelain factory since it was in 1884 bought on auction by Moritz Zdekauer Bank. The company exported products to North and South Americas and the Dutch colonies.
In 1909 the firm was bought by C.M. Hutschenreuther and since then was used a MZ Altrolau mark. The Altrohlau Porcelain Factories operated till 1945, when it was nationalized. The company still operates in the Czech Republic under the name Starorolsky Porcelan Moritz Zdekauer in the town Stara Role"

The site I found the info at says this mark was until 1922.
I question that. I think it is later. The style, the whiteness of the pottery, the way the rose is done, in my opinion looks like 1940s-1960s.

Thank you for your replies. I was using this site -
    https://www.theoldstuff.com/en/porcelain-marks/category/161-mz-austria-marks

and my sign was looking like this one from 1909-1922, so that is how I assumed that it was made back then.

On one of the plates I found an almost invisible writing 1000/15, but I do not know what might it mean.

Once more, thank you. You helped me a lot guys.

EDITED - Also, it is possible that they might use older signatures for their products in 1940s-1960s? Why wouldnt they just use a new ones?

It looks the same but the OP's has gold trim. It should have a different pattern number if the replacements site has any.

    Hi
We have a set of plates with this exact pattern and mark and it was given to my grandparents as a wedding gift at the end of 1919. I have found a post with similar plates although not scalloped so possibly more modern. There it said it was called Cellini.

I just inherited a set of 12 plates & soup plates that belonged to my grandmother who was married in the mid- 1920's in Mexico. I think they were a wedding gift. The pattern looks very similar & the stamp on the bottom is similar but the words "Made In" are excluded. The edge of the dishes are not scallop. I think you are in the ballpark with your original age estimation.

nothing was marked with the old German place names after 1945 exept the remnants that were used up to save the fabrication in those very hard times and to feed the workers.
Moritz Zdekauer was a Viennese banker that was absolutely not interested in the well-being of the workers and I very much doubt that the Communists kept the name of a capitalist Austrian banker.

when I use a possible German name for the pattern - Rosenmuster - I find plenty for searching.

Is it possible there is both a coffee pot and a teapot but one is missing its lid ?
I think this is the remnants of a larger set, however, the 2 orphan plates may be missing their cups and saucers and the bowl might be a slops bowl for teacup dregs.
From wikipedia -"In Europe, a slop bowl, slop basin or waste bowl is one of the components of a traditional tea set. It was used to empty the cold tea and dregs in tea cups before refilling with hot tea, as there were often tea leaves in the bottom of the cups.[1][2][3]"

I don't see a teapot (with or without a lid.) I do see a pitcher next to the coffee pot.
