The mark on the blade is the one on the forks.

Just to make sure, the maker of all 3 pieces was Danske Guldsmedes Sølvvarefabrik.

I found somewhere that the mark on the spoon was used from 1948 to 1958. Would that be a correct date range to put on these 3 pieces?

I am kind of hoping I can sell these to a friend at the auction who loves her sterling silver. Far easier than selling them on eBay.

 

I went into an antique store today and spent $48 in cash and $60 in trade. The trade goods cost me $1.25 - that victorian bead painting and a glass and paper mache box with some damage on it. I picked up a motley mix of silver, costume jewelry and beads including my trademark ruptured duck (honorable discharge lapel button). I figured the dealer has to make a living, and I made mine.

I had to get the buckshot out for a bottle I got today. This is going to take a while to cut through the gunk inside this one.

I tried rubbing one of them across a piece of paper & it left no mark. So does that mean it is not lead? If it is steel, why was it not attracted to the magnet?

 

Could be tungsten-iron, tungsten-polymer, tungsten-nickel-iron, and bismuth-tin..... all are used in modern non lead shells.

 

It's pretty darned close. I'll have to go over mine looking for a B. I sat here tonight and restrung the spring green beads. They're molded Czech glass and the green glows under black light. I also just found out that milk glass and some coated pearls light up like crazy; I had the black light out and ran it over some other beads.

Whatever they are, they work as a scrubbing agent on perfume gunk.

 

It's a beauty. Looking at it, remembered something I haven't needed to know in decades: there is no key for the numeral 1, you use the lower case l (L).

 

Picked this up at the thrift for $5.00. About 10" diameter. Think it is probably serpentine. Anyone confirm? Chinese? Thought it was plastic when I first saw it … LOL! Can't really find any good comparables.

 

I Love that bowl !! ... are those cracks inside it or do they belong there ??.. Joy.

 

Pattern is in the stone. This is the closest comparable I could find as to size and color. A bit smaller than mine at 8.25" dia. and, of course, the shape is different. Everything else I am finding is quite a bit smaller.

But yes on the serpentine, most likely. I've seen a similar color called "new jade" made into beads. It's pretty, but jade it isn't.

 

I vote serpentine too, but yours is unusually large. You got a great deal.

Ooh, Evelyb, show us the beads that light up! My mom had a really unique glass necklace. The glass was hollow white beads, but they glowed green in the dark-phosphorescent. I never saw another necklace like it.....one bead was broken, the glass was very fragile. She just threw everything in her small jewelry box. That is where my love of jewelry started- when I was home sick, she used to let me play in her jewelry box. I don't think I could have parted with that beaded piece.... my upstairs guest room is done in pink and white shabby chic with lots of pink roses, vintage pink and white linens, vintage chenille bedspreads........and my downstairs bathroom is lavender and pink.....it works with all the vintage stuff I find. And the kitchen is baby blue and pink, and the living room is blue with shades of mauve and pink.... eclectic yard sale/flea market/thrift shop decor.

 

I wanted to share this with you all. We had the most lovely neighbors for 15 years....sadly, the young gentleman passed away in October due to chronic health issues. He was only 42, and his young widow is devastated.

I found this vintage pocket watch case, no workings, and the seller had filled it with sea glass. I removed the sea glass and put a picture of them in the case.... this is a picture of them being dressed in vintage clothing, I gave her the vintage dress she is wearing in the photo.

I didn't know what I was going to do for a chain... turn it into a necklace (it is rather large), and I was in one of my usual antique malls yesterday and this watch chain was in a revolving case. It matched the watch case colors rather well (white gold and rose gold tone, the watch case is gold-filled, the chain in costume.) I will give it to our neighbor the next time I see her (she is too heartbroken to stay in their house; she is staying with family.)

We never know how long we have. Live well, do what makes you happy, and enjoy life to the fullest. Count your blessings. I have made the decision to retire and pursue a third career involving selling off most of the treasures I have acquired (and the new ones I will hopefully find) when I turn 62 in June.
