Hanau silver tea caddy

Hello, I'm new to the forum. This is my first post. I came across this tea caddy that appears to be Hanau silver. It has 3 marks, 2 of which I do not recognize, and was hoping for some help. The mark in the middle appears to be a crowned stylized A that's consistent with Georg Roth. However, it lacks the crowned GR or any other marks typically associated with Georg Roth. In their stead, there are two marks that I've never seen before. I've perused the well-known Hanau marks, but have not been able to find anything similar. So I'm really stumped.

Has anyone seen these marks before? Is this item Hanau? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Welcome,AllSeasons! Because there was no standard listing of makers and their marks in Hanau and the makers often varied their marking combinations, it's necessary to compare the designs and quality of known examples for the maker in addition to comparing the mark combinations.

Note that the second picture shows the left-facing man's head.

Not that I am any degree of expert on this region's marks but I'm of the opinion that your caddy is Roth's.

the R with the crown could be a fake tax mark from the City of Orléans to deceive the French customs officers.

 

There is no crowned R on this piece. It is true that many of the Hanau pseudomarks marks were copied from the marks of other countries - and the older marks of France are commonly seen in combination with others.
