Someone else had picked up the brooch and I was sending thoughts saying PUT IT DOWN.

Thankfully, they did. I did not haggle. I've a thing for Scottish hardstone. Same seller, nice woman, also sold me a banded agate brooch and a modern opal ring. She has my phone number now.

I think my most freverent prayer has always been a tie between "Don't pick that up" and "Put that down."

After a whole long treasure-less winter, I finally found a few things to post. I rarely get time with job demands to photograph or post anymore, plus I am getting older and more tired. I went back out after I forgot my purse Saturday and a lady was putting jewelry in her booth. She said she was bringing more next weekend. Most items were $3-$5. Here are some of the better pieces.
    Ann Klein doorknockers, $4

    Happy bear here.

I've got those Anne Klein ones, bought them new in the mid eighties.

I am now going to be on the lookout for those Anne Klein earrings as well.

Not my style, but for that price new on card there wasn't much to miss. I'd have been all over the blue Czech piece too.

As for Bear's Scottish brooch... gotta be the find of the week, for a whopping fiver.

And it would have been something I missed, too. We are always learning, though, and sharing our finds helps all of us.

Bear, do they still mine this granite? Is your piece set in precious metal, is it marked or have you tested it? I am seeing most pieces set in sterling.

I did research on the Hattie Carnegie piece. I didn't find another one like it. I do have the book on her jewelry, too. I am guessing the piece is circa 1960s made with older stones. I did see a brooch of hers made with peacock glass stones, and a necklace made with foil stones...I did see two of the dimple stones like mine in the necklace sold for $161 on Worthpoint. IDK what the necklace as HC would bring. I think it may be my favorite costume find yet. It's in my curio cabinet so I can look at it every day. Saphiret is a Holy Grail for me. Only you guys can understand. None of my friends or relatives, not my husband, understand my hobby. Nobody gets it. That's why I am so happy to be a part of this group. It's like I found my tribe.

They do still mine granite. Indeed, Aberdeen is built of the stuff, it's called the granite city. These days, worktops!

It's not marked, but it's silver. That's pretty common for the time, I don't think any of my hardstone is hall marked.

The setting is beautiful as is the alternating hues of pink and green. When I googled this jewelry, the few pieces I was able to find were beautiful, the workmanship...I don't think it's something we would find here in the states. My dream is to go treasure hunting in Europe, especially England.

The Hattie Carnegie piece was the find of the year! First off her stuff sells well anyway, then to have Saphirets??!! OMG. I'm often reviewing what pieces are on Ebay with Saphirets (yes, a bit of an obsession here too) and I don't recall seeing a Hattie Carnegie piece, so you have a real winner.

    Mind control, indeed!

I've one saphiret piece. Bought from a dealer who was without clue. The best kind.

Well, this dealer didn't have a clue, and neither did anyone else that day. I actually stopped breathing. I bought a tiny 10k Haileys comet sapphiret pin on ebay, and an unset pear-shaped stone off of there, too. I also bought a pair of saphiret earrings, unmarked, but I have seen them as part of a Hobe parure, for $12 at an antique store. I got a pair of sapphirine earrings for $5 at an antique show. I don't have a lot either, and I don't even see it in antique malls.

And I spent the day getting ready to give back to the universe. I have five large trash bags full of summer clothing I don't wear anyone, some never worn with tags still on, and a lot of hubby's clothing, too. I have gifts new I am not using, all going to be donated at a veteran's thrift store. I also went through linens, sheets, etc. Getting shoes together now.

My chant when someone has something I want in their hands is.... you don't want it, put it down...and slightly hover in the area to see if they let it go.

Found a lot of ways to waste gas today... and a Steiff Rooster named Siglinde. (I think it's gender-confused!)
