No markings which normally calligaris etched the glass with their name unless that's a newer thing?
Son wanted something bigger for his home so we have it at our home now

Looks later to me. More like '80s or '90s. It's very minimal, industrial, almost brutalist. I'll be interested in what others say.

I'd think even a bit later.

I immediately thought 1980s-90s too. I personally loathed when the whole industrial theme was all the rage. Almost as much as the distressed look . :)

I'm pretty sure it's IKEA. I had one at my store a couple of months ago.

I agree - way more modern than MCM. It looks like a useful table, if not even close to my style.

The Ikea Glivarp is similar.... but different.
I don't think an Ikea table would have the weight that OP describes.

Christine, are the frame and legs made of metal on your son's table? What sort of mechanism works the expandable feature? (Photos?)
Admittedly, I was not familiar with Calligaris tables prior to your post but quick googling seems to indicate their frames/legs were generally wood?

Agree with others - modern , not MCM. Could be 30 years old, or 30 days. It looks like a number of companies are selling a new version of this design, which is likely made in China. There was an extending MCM table with a similar design made by Design Institute of America, shown here. Sellers often claim it's a Milo Baughman design but from what I've read, there is no evidence he designed this table or anything else for for DIA.

  14. None of the above are correct ones sadly the table is all heavy metal....no seams in the framed part [baughman has a split in the mitered corners] that holds the frosted [not clear] glass inserts. When I polished using german autosol metal polish it did appear to have tarnish come off. Hex metric bolts hold legs with an additional inner L bracket . The rollers are white plastic
Not sure if any of that helps?

According to the timeline on their website, Calligaris was a chair maker from their founding in 1923 up until 1986 when they expanded their line with "tables and occasional furniture". They opened their first US branch in High Point in 1998.
