I was planning on FreeCycling this, but when I was emptying it out and cleaning it up, I started wondering what it had originally looked like and how old it was. I’d been assuming it was relatively new (post 1950) and therefore uninteresting, but it seems well made.

It’s hard to look past the paint job, and the hardware screws - and for that matter the hardware - may or may not be original. They could be newer, but the handles at least could also be older.

    Thoughts?

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

My gut says that hardware is on upside down, BUT I can also be totally wrong!!!!! Did you paint it or is that how it came to you??

My parents must have painted it sometime in the very late 1960’s or early 1970’s, perhaps with my “help”, but I don’t remember. My parents don’t remember where it came from either, but my Dad says it may have come from his uncle’s auction house.

To be fair, it may have been painted when they got it. In fact, looking at the chipped areas, I think it’s likely.

Feel free to freecycle. No value to anyone interested in antiques (it is mid 20th century factory furniture).

Might be just a tad earlier but definitely a 20th century factory piece.
