    Happy Friday!

I hope that I am not violating any of the rules with this post.

I recently purchased a log cabin that came fully furnished, mostly with antiques. I prefer a mixture of new with the old. I have been slowly shifting the look. However, I do have one piece of furniture (photo attached) that was in the kitchen; I just can not find any information on it. I have no idea what it is or what the original intended purpose was. Any assistance is appreciated.

    Thank you!

Hi! Hi! You'll just want to remember to post all your photographs as Full Image. (That's one of two choices after you click on Upload a File. That other is Thumbnail.) That will make them easy for everyone to see. I've taken the liberty of reposting this one for you.

Looks like a homemade, stand-alone lower cabinet. How big? Can you also show us the other sides.

There is only the one photo. The wood may be antique, but the construction of this piece is not. It was made with used bead board pine boards (originally used for ceilings or walls in antique homes) for the doors and painted shabby chic green over white with rather uniform sanding. It's a technique for making furniture look old, when it's not. The hinges are very new. Wood appears to be cypress, looks soft, is it? ..It looks rather small?

Hello @JDouglas & welcome to the forum!!:happy:

You did not violate any rules with your post but we are going to need some more information.

I think it is supposed to be a dry sink.

Measurements would help as would additional photos of the back & the top.

Also, please do check the show full image option when you post more photos. ;)

If you look at the spiraling in the wood, that is a saw mill blade pattern left in the wood ( https://www.woodgears.ca/sawmill/index.html). Hand hewn would look like this: https://smokymtnwoodproducts.com/product/hand-hewn-chink-groove-siding/

This looks like something someone fabricated using whatever was handy. You can see in some of the example photographs how even antique shop pieces have relatively fine finishes :)

If it were mine, I take it out to my shop and repurpose it into a work bench :)

Do keep shifting the look. That looks like firewood to me.

In Spanish, it would be called a chapuza.
