I've a vintage DvF, love it.

So anyhow. These are mostly chazza hauls, as last weekend was rainy onn Sunday. The earrings weren't: I've a friend who buys stuff from me and she brought over some earrings for my eagle eye. I discovered Dior ones, to her great pleasure and some other decent ones which she will sell. These, however, I grabbed.

The bling set was a whole £7.50 and the cinnabar was eight. Carnelian and silver wasn't cheap, twenty quid, but I liked it.

Nice! I should have gone to an antiques sale in a church, but that would have meant: getting up early three days in a row, spending real money on gas, and then money on admission on the gamble of finding something good. Instead I went to an antique store at 10AM the next morning and sold stuff for $1200.

I brought in jewelry and pottery, glassware etc. He sells through a crap-ton of jewelry and is always on the lookout. I bring the earrings etc I find for well under their scrap weight, the unmarked sterling jools etc, and everyone goes home happy.

Found a few goodies this morning. Bitty gold chain with earrings; the pendant is a zircon instead of a sapphire like it was supposed to be. The bracelet is sterling with silver critter dangles. The prize of the day is a micromosaic pin in a 14k setting, with a pre-WWI (USA entry) clasp. The store TOTALLY missed the mark - got it for $6 I think.

I have had this for a few months but kept forgetting to post a photo. I got it at the local GW for $5.96 on a senior discount day although I believe I would have sprung for full price. ;):D:D:rolleyes:

I listed it this weekend & sold it last night for a $75.00 offer.:happy:

It had some scratches & some nicks around the edges but was in pretty good shape considering its age.

These pieces are not marked with the usual Hazel Atlas "HA" mark. I grabbed it at first just because of the colors but after a little research, it was a no-brainer. :smug::smug:

Congrats Peggy. Pink is such a hot color still and the set is adorable. Very mid century to my eyes.

I just finished packing it up for its trip to its new forever home.:happy::happy:

I really messed up on estimating the shipping weight on this one.:facepalm::facepalm::bag: For some unknown reason, I entered just 1 pound over the weight of just the items themselves. :wideyed::wacky::wacky: I did at least get the size of the box correct. Luckily it is going FedEx so the cost was the same even though it was 2 pounds more than what I had put into the listing. :joyful:

A few weeks back I posted about my lucking into a huge stash of bubble wrap & mentioned another item that I said I would explain later. Well, it is finally later. :p

Some time last year the surgery center where I use to work & that still saves packing supplies for me had a change in their medicine delivery system. They use to get meds that are used for cataract surgeries in large Styrofoam coolers. I did recycle the coolers & the cold packs by taking them out to our local food bank. They used them to transport stuff to their smaller banks around the state & gave them to clients to transport their stuff home, especially in the hot summer months.

The company changed to a more eco-friendly system called GreenCellFoam. It is made from corn byproducts & it will dissolve in water, can be put into compost piles, or can be burned in outdoor fire pits. It comes in all different sizes & is encased in cardboard boxes. Some of the different sizes are shown below. BTW I took these photos because I recently ran a CraigsList ad to give some of it away as I had built up quite a lot & frankly was getting in my way.

    [IMG] [IMG]

They asked me if I still wanted them to save the stuff for me. I was initially hesitant because I had no idea what I would do with it. However, I have found it to be extremely useful in packing up stuff.:happy:

This is what it looks like out of the plastic.

So I cut it to size for whatever box I am using or it can also be cut up into small pieces to be used to augment your peanut supply or even replace it entirely.

If I continue getting this stuff I doubt I will spend the money to buy the Styrofoam peanuts once I have used up what I have right now.:happy:

I used the cut to size method to pack up the salad set along with some smaller pieces wedged in between pieces to prevent any movement. The stuff is about 2" thick so it gives a nice buffer all the way around.

I have been putting the top piece back into the plastic sleeve so that the buyer knows what the stuff is & can dispose of it as they suggest if they so choose.

I do however wish someone who is on the forum lived close by me because I do sometimes get an abundance of packing stuff & would love to share it when that happens.:happy:

I will say that I had no trouble whatsoever getting takers for the stuff I listed on CraigsList. :D:D

Thanks. I knew it was good, but didn't think it was that good.

Peggy's packing material will never run out of takers. There ought to be a Trash Nothing Facebook group for the area, and people in your own town will come and make off with it.

I would much rather share it with somebody because if I don't take it the stuff ends up in the trash bin out back of the center.

I am not aware of any place close by & I don't do FB. It is easy enough to reactivate the listings when I get too much & it starts to take over my garage. :p:p
