There are no hallmarks that I have been able to find on this box. The engraved landscape looks South Western or possibly Persian to me but I would like some other opinions. I am assuming shaded with niello? It is double sided and measures approx. 3.12 x 4.75 inches.
    Thank you for looking! IMG_5495.jpg IMG_5496.jpg IMG_5497.jpg IMG_5498.jpg

Cool! It looks like ruins of a walled ancient city in a desert to me. Intriguing.

My eyes are practically bleeding - seriously though, I have polished and gone back over the entire box. No marks. Sigh.

That's a strange scene. Looks to be a fenced-in area? Ruins after a fire? Necropolis?

Would suggest Persian/Iranian with some age to it, probably edging up on antique, depicting the ruins at Persepolis, personally, not seeing niello (why Southwestern?)

Pretty cool. Not quite sure what to do with it besides store guitar picks.

Palace of Darius at Persepolis looks very promising.

With this frieze reduced to geometric forms:

I was thinking south western because the 'ruins' looked a little adobe to me. But then I stumbled upon the Russian one.......

I'm with dragonfly, my first thought was middle eastern, though I would have expected enameling if persian. I would best guess circa 1920's or so, but I would certainly expect it to be marked if solid silver.

The franklins are much easier to come by than the silver they are enclosed in...lol
