Antique Hutch - ID, Value?

Hi - I was wondering what this piece was and if it had any value. Also what kind of wood it is. It was in my mother’s apartment for decades. It did not have a desk to sit upon. She had it on top of a full size secretary. It does have a number of cracks and I even see that a piece of the bottom left front tip had been glued back on. It was in better condition in her apartment - in my apartment it seems have to accumulated some dulling from dust. The back is hard board.

Dimensions: 30”w x 24 3/8” h x 10 1/4” d at the base

 

To me it looks like the top half of a 1940s-50s colonial style hutch.

 

Looks like a nice smallish functional shelving unit that could be used many places..... I can't tell the wood from your images....others might though...

 

$20 at a yard sale......maybe..

I agree with these statements.
I use the top half of a hutch as a plant holder outside in the summertime. I don't mind it weathering, I'm just glad to find a way to make it useful!

Only a guess but the wood looks like pine. You would have to take better pictures of the wood grain for me to be sure.

 

I am with Johnny on this. Wood could be maple. Here is something similar to what the whole thing would have looked like.
