Featured Is this a Santo carving?

Hi again. I found this in an antique mall in the US Midwest. It looks old to me. 6" tall. I don't know what it says-- Erys?

Is this a Santo carving?

I see that too "Erys." But only "Eres" would make sense. Third word looks like "Patron."

Yes, boss in México. But could also be patron as in santo patrón or patron saint in English.

I think it is written ERES. The second E is just scrawled more messily.

I think it says "ERES EN SISE PATRIA"

Google roughly translates it to English as "You are in your homeland".

 

Sorry, that doesn't work. There are two verbs for "to be" in Spanish. One, ser, is a state of being as in "I'm American" and the other, estar, relates to physical location as in "I'm in America." "You are in your homeland" would translate to "Estás en tu patria" informally or "Está en su patria" formally.

To answer your question, it does look like a Santo, but the hair and eyes seems to have been done over much later, and that sign seems to be later as well. Too bad....

And do you think the hair and eyes look too dark / too defined to be the same age as the rest?
