    Wonder how do you tell early editions from restrikes besides the patina?

    Patina? Looks like plating falling off due to some type chemical exposure.

    I meant if the age signs on the older examples like patina is the only way to tell original vs restrike edition.
    You think this is plated base metal but not bronze?

    I believe a number of them were silver and gold plated at one time.Would not be a "restrike" since the design is is not from the 1800/early 1900's medals.

    Maybe ask on the coin forum,if your's was a Tiffany's made one it would probably worth more.
