Le verre?

Ok, so I purchased a few items at an estate sale this week. One was this vase marked Le Verre Francois, then France underneath. There might have been other marks but they were unintelligible. I wish I had the piece with me now to take a pic of the markings, but I happen to be out of town. So is Le Verre a signature or does it mean glass, or is it a glass company? I have seen other pieces similar to it but have no info, just prices. The vase is 1920’s right?

although ridiculed as the poor man's Gallé earlier, it has a wide collector's appeal today.

Thanks! Great info! I am not an avid collector. But I love estate sales and pick up pieces that I can afford. For some reason I seem to gravitate towards the deco style. I rarely think about fakes or forgery in the items I pick up. I loved reading this article!

Strangely, that link doesn't work for me, but searching Forged marks of Schneider Glass Co takes me to the article at what appears to be the same link.

Ha, I could never afford Galle so I guess they are right!

I first saw this piece and liked it, but it was a bit out of my extremely limited price range. I had not seen the signature yet and went home to look for what it might be. That’s when I saw all the cameo glass pieces. I knew it wasn’t the quality that Galle shows, but the piece was still beautiful to me. I went back and picked it up when it was half price. Then I found the signature and began to investigate.

Galle glass is amazing! I had never even heard of cameo glass prior to seeing this piece.

    please use the correct name.
    le verre français
François was on the loo at the time...
or Charles Schneider (although his older brother Ernest was the first one that worked for Daum and brought his younger brother into the company)

I understand the spelling difference, but I don't see where I made the mistake.

There's a real difference between English and French cameo glass. The English tend to be very objective with sharply defined forms where the French tend to be more impressionistic.
