The flatware you show above is not the pattern that is most prominently shown in the :game: pictures. in fact can't be seen at all.

I know that now, but the pattern cannot be seen through the plastic. I don't plan on playing any more of these games.

I guess part of this game is that you get the seller's (sometimes poor) listing photo, so documenting a common real-life buying situation. For example, if this was the only photo you got, would you buy it?

I have learned a few tricks here. I'm terrible on patterns so can use all the alternate help and tips I can get! :)

    Hi Bakers,

I just wanted to respond quickly and say I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy this game, I completely understand if you choose to not participate in future games but I do really enjoy the expertise you always bring.

To everyone else reading the post, there’s a few things that are very important we should all consider on the forum:

#1. My games are designed to be fun and educational. If you don’t find them fun, or you don’t find them enjoyable, then the game isn’t serving the proper purpose for you and I don’t want this to be anything other than lighthearted for people.

#2. I give you the exact information I had to work with. It’s true that the photo isn’t great, and that’s the whole point. In reality I don’t always get full information and I need to make a decision. The “STE” allowed me to purchase the set without ever matching the pattern. I would like to note that if you are a pattern researcher, the flatware in plastic towards the right of the photo is visible.

#3. These games are more about winning your own game vs winning my game. You see most plastic wrapping of sterling flatware has red lettering, so for someone reading this I just helped them to understand not to count out blue lettering as possibly silver. I want you to go find your own treasure using these skills, that’s the big picture for me.

I appreciate you all more than you could ever know. :) :)

What fooled me is the plastic looked sealed. Sealed plastic - silverplate or stainless. Open plastic = real deal. Printing on the plastic ends isn't diagnostic, and with my luck would be International Silver instead of Sterling.

I agree with you Lucille:) Some photos in listings are beyond terrible, it can be a real guessing game as to what they are selling.

they are fun and educational Mr Nate, they get the grey cells working overtimes some days:)

I didn't know about the lettering on the plastic, I've never come across it before so that is good info to file away:)
