I think this came from my grandfather’s house in Connecticut. Thoughts?

Someone's boat. Love the flag. According to the internet, it's from the Halloween Yacht Club, founded in the 1920s in Stamford, CT. As the vessel registration number is clearly visible, they should be able to identify.

Ooo, great lead!!! Might actually be the Greenwich boat and yacht club:

“A bit of trivia: The Halloween Yacht Club burgee is one of only three yacht club flags that displays a witch. The other clubs are the Salem (Massachusetts) Yacht Club (the witch is an obvious symbol for this historic club’s flag), and the Greenwich (Connecticut) Boat & Yacht Club. The witch on the Greenwich club’s burgee is green (“Green Witch,” got it?).”

Ah, a pistol let off off at the ear. Clever you. The Water Wagon was registered in Greenwich so that makes sense.

There was a Water Wagon registered to Stephen Peabody, Jr. of Fairfield, CT in 1947.
