I have a piece of silver marked Brown Sterling size is 4.5 inches in length and wondered if anyone is familiar with the name.I’m thinking this is an 7B5E3D11-B3D7-419E-8A66-F0548E2126A9.jpeg 32D45378-746C-4E05-9D08-E64DF618B542.jpeg ear pick tool can’t think it could be used for anything else , sterling being soft .

Have seen them with points couldn’t see it as a letter opener don’t know if it’s an actual tool of some sort. Thanks for all suggestions Will try to find something about the marks.Only thing I read about is early coin silver being marked with a name and sterling.

Early coin silver? It would not be marked sterling.

Any chance "brown sterling" is a company name? Are you sure it is silver?

Perhaps it's just me, but I find it very odd that 'brown' and 'sterling' is all in lower case. My experience with most coin silver or early American pieces is quite the opposite (I'm not claiming this is always the case, just in general) where the stamp is typically all in caps, or at least proper upper case for a name. Intriguing, and a bit strange. I also feel like the font type feels more modern, again, just a feeling nothing concrete.

    I think it's a (broken) toothpick.

But should be easy to repair.

Maybe a personal item belonging to the American poet Sterling
Brown? Just thinking out of the box.

My daughter punches words on silver plate. She only had the lower case set of letters. This could be hand punched.
