Featured Cool table, uncertain age

I love this little table. Sorry for the quality of the pictures of the underside. Any info appreciated!

was it left outside...or in a damp basement ..?

The pictures make it look worse than it is. There isn’t any structural damage, but there is a tremendous amount of dust and spider webs and eggs in addition to the damp. I don’t think it’s been *properly* cleaned in 30 years…

The room behind the wall had a bad leak in the roof which wasn’t noticed in time, and nobody has lived here in 3 years, so everything got damp. The upside of the neglect prior to the damp is that the ick (so far) has pretty much just wiped off.

That's a cool table but doesn't look American. Maybe French? Probably mid 19th century. Where are you? Do you know where it came from?

 

It came from York, Pennsylvania. Probably from my Great Grandfather’s childhood home. I’m currently in New York, on Long Island.

 

It looks like it is a game table with folding top? From these pics it looks more factory made turn of the century to me, with simple machine carving. Pics are really inadequate though.

If you want a quick take on all your furniture, best to take it all outside with All the junk taken off of it, line it all up and take a pic from the front and back and side and underneath. A few group shots with everything lined up could then say which few pieces are worth taking closeups of. It takes more time to do it the way you are doing now, with one piece at a time with covered surfaces, but I understand you may not be able to get it all outside. It is hard for us to really judge fairly this way though.

What about the white chair to the right? Is that fiberglass or plastic? That MCM look could be much more desirable than your table depending on condition and maker.

Your sale is two days away, and still no ad? Have you called to be sure they have the date correct? Have they taken pics yet?
