Featured MCM glass lamp... Murano? (EDIT: it's ceramic! Bitossi Aldo Londi?)

I recently picked up this gorgeous MCM lamp and I plan to rewire it. Anyway, any chance that it could be Murano? No marks anywhere to be found. Though the white and dark pink blobs look painted on, it must have been done while the glass body was still hot because you cannot feel them when you run your fingertips over the piece. Nor can you feel the black lines on the blobs.

Don’t know if it is Murano, definitely MCM but I would say not atomic, JMHO :)

    Thanks!
I guess I see the atomic influence in the two flying saucer type shapes above the glass body.

That lamp reminds me of late 1940s into 1950s lamps of that sort/design/size which used to reside on top of the big cabinet housing the small t.v. screen showing in black and white and prominently placed in a "living room" (before "dens" gained status for "entertaining" visitors).;)

So I was taking it apart to rewire it and found this:

Is it definitely glass or could it be pottery?

Yep, mine is ceramic! Geez, it sure felt like glass and the seller called it Venetian glass.
    Who is Walter?

The pattern on the pair you linked to is different. Those lamps have a definite feather/leaf shape to their pattern, the shapes on mine are more abstract... but similar...

Yes similar I should have said.:) I'm on my phone and switching back and forth between photos is challenging.:banghead:

Walter is an expert in Italian ceramics and we are fortunate to have him as a member on the boards! Hopefully he'll be along and able to give guidance.

This should alert him to this thread.

There seems to be something else written under the sticker?

Yes, I've been wondering whether or not to remove that sticker and check!

Here is a piece with very similar blob markings as mine, the blobs even appear to be the same color but with only one black line going through them. (From 1stdibs, purported to be 1960s Bertossi for Raymor though no marks other than what is shown. The Italy signature is different from my piece, the duck is marked in cursive.)

I found this flicker photo with the caption
This vase is by Italian maker Bitossi and likely from the early 1950's. It is marked V95/35.B Italy and was found in Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
No photo of the marks, however.

I would peel the sticker. It's useless.

Don't peel that sticker! They're often useful clues with Italian stuff. Or, if you do, very very carefully and put it back on elsewhere on the base.

I was thinking of gently steaming it off and placing it elsewhere on the base. :nailbiting:

Do you think it's ok to rewire it?

if you have a hair dryer use that for lifting the sticker off, and as bear said, place it elsewhere on the base:)
