Thank you so much for the feedback!

What is the best route to sell something like this? I’m in a Nebraska antique buy sell trade group, or I use marketplace for most of the other stuff I have sold. It’s been a long time since I’ve used eBay. Just want to do this piece justice and get it to someone who can appreciate what it is. Should I take it to a local antique shop or sell somewhere online?

I think ebay would be better than an antique shop. You should put a high starting price on an auction, or do a buy it now.

Yes, I think ebay might do better for you. I honestly prefer an auction rather than a buy it now. At the very least do a little market research to try and find some comparables. Perhaps beginning with searching for "completed sales" in antique embroidered linens on ebay. I don't know where you live; but sometimes a larger antique mall will have someone who specializes in vintage and antique linens and laces. You could look around their shop and see what kind of prices they are asking.
Yes, you can always come down if you start higher.... but sometimes that backfires if you set your sights too high.
    Good luck!

    Thank you!
I found some more treasures today. This doesn’t even touch what she has collected.
She knows she needs to down size, but it is hard for her to let go. I get it, these are such neat pieces of history. 7DB78F6B-3A90-4D7C-8D1A-6D170740F586.jpeg 3FC1AB99-C07C-4FE5-B98D-222600B20B78.jpeg 1B9A5AA9-07A1-4C0B-A447-64C8E90EFC58.jpeg A787FFD8-4934-43D3-A628-19395A1C14B9.jpeg 8E98B3C3-382F-4D0A-A43A-FD4E908A8C5D.jpeg 9BEC0A62-9C2E-4869-8BA8-47ABE19BD657.jpeg

This floral one reminds me of the original piece I posted. It is also very well done.

I’m not sure exactly what’s going on with this bird one, though. 2AF9FB6F-49C3-41EF-8619-772570D47A41.jpeg FDB0F462-48D1-4865-B76C-C84A57057CC1.jpeg AF2B4B70-FF8B-4F46-A7BF-1E053F7ABFD5.jpeg F438A438-51C2-43AE-897A-9F56200DD059.jpeg

Wow! They are all in such great shape! Lovely! Each one!
The little 7" round mat with the ruler under the apron is the same time frame as the piece you first posted. Victorian era.
The apron circa 40-50's. The cute little table cover with the horse and cart embroidery - is rather reminiscent of things I've seen from the 20-30's...into the early 40's.
The two embroidered dresser scarves look like circa 40's to me. And the pretty pink table cover looks like it may be a "stamped" goods item circa late 60's - 70's.
As for the cute aqua piece... I'll hazard a guess that it could be 40's - 50's... Yes, interesting that it is sort of a "mirror" image piece... I quite like it!
    All such lovely condition!
Grandma may feel better about downsizing if you can reap some $$ back for her with some sales. It is always difficult to downsize... I've done PART of my own vast collection of linens and lace... I MUST do more as my girls really don't have much interest. Sigh!
    Have fun!

Thank you for sharing your expertise, Leslie!

Grandma told me today it is easier if she doesn’t have to see me getting rid of her stuff, so I have a bit of a challenge to try not to ask her too many questions and figure out pricing without too much bother to her. I will figure it out, though. Luckily the current stuff I’m going through was already set aside and priced for a rummage sale, so I at least know a bottom dollar.

she has a tote with old baby onesies, and more aprons, and a box of doilies as well. This doesn’t include any of her lace collection yet!

Thank you for posting your photos, I love old linens and have quite an extensive collection myself. It's such a pity that most don't bring significant $$ on the market, so much time and love went into making them. Nevertheless, there are people out there that appreciate them, myself included!

@Shanell - Yes, I understand what she means. My Mum and Grandma could make the decision to "hand off"... but then didn't want to watch it be sold. It was better when I could just hand them cash later! Be sure to tag me with lace photos! LOL... I find I have a tendency to do that too. Sometimes I can bring myself to sell; or donate...but then there are things I just feel I have to "hand off". Hoping they can use it, pass it on or they can donate!
    Big job! Hang in there!

    Yes, I agree!
I went through some more of the aprons today. She said she found another tote full as well, so now I’m thinking maybe I need to look into opening an Etsy shop to list everything there.

I’ll share some photos here anyway because it’s fun.

I’m thinking I need to steam or iron these and find a better set up for photos if I’m going to list them for sale. She has boxes full of lace downstairs that we have even touched yet! I’m excited to have a place to share in this process, though!

I think it’s a dresser scarf, but I would like to know about the technique or what it’s called when the fabric is like that. It has a nice thick feel. I’m really attracted to it.

More aprons! And the light purple garment looks like a child’s romper, maybe? All the aprons look like new!
You don't give us any measurements so I can't comment on whether the purple garment was for a child.

WoW! What treasures! She had a great eye for finding great stuff! Yes, Etsy would be a good venue for sales. It's easy to set up an account!

First apron is smocked! CUTE! Very "Halloweenie" with the black smocking, orange fabric and black ricrac!

Second apron - embroidery on organdie! The colors seem very Deco to me!
Third apron - Crocheted! Great condition. Any time mid-Century date...

4th... the fabric looks like "huck" to me. Interesting that it has a white on white woven in design. I don't think I've seen that before. The embroidery is probably machine. Most "huck" was used as fingertip towels, kitchen towels, etc... but I've seen a few pieces made into furniture linens.

I love love love the lady apron! I've only seen little fingertip towels like them! but the following one is on ebay: "Vintage Madeira Embroidered Guest Hand Towel Padded Risqué Naughty Lady 11X18". I think they sold stamped goods with the painted lady; and then you'd do applique to apply her to fabric and make her "padded" features. The one on Ebay they are asking $22.... sold items seem to go for anywhere between $12 and $20ish. Yours however, seems a bit different; with the netting under her skirt!

The blue embroidered / appliqued apron is great! Very Deco era!

The romper is darling! Hand embroidered... organdie (?). Cute as a button!

The last apron is cool with that pretty floral pocket! I'm guessing 50's...
Everything is in such nice shape!

Yes, iron where you can... steam lightly if necessary. I wouldn't take on washing everything if it isn't necessary to sell.

Looking forward to seeing more goodies!

    You are so wonderful!
I found a couple groups on Facebook for vintage linens buy sell trade.

today, I sold some antique “whites” baby clothes for $60 and some hankies, doily, and 1 apron for $20
That was just to one buyer, and she wants me to tell her when I go through tablecloths and lace. I had a lot of responses of interest in seeing more stuff when I asked for advice there, so I’m very encouraged!

Also.. I’m almost to 50 aprons now and I still have one more tote to go through!
