Featured Couple of mystery tools

    I found these in a crate at my lock-up.

    Top one has wooden handle grips obviously for turning something.
    The left grip is spring loaded and levers down about an inch (2nd pic)

    The bottom one has a similar spring loaded lever on one side and a leather strap and cross hatch plate, perhaps for gripping something, similar to an oil filter wrench.

    Both have the same size opening.

    Pipe strap wrench type tool? Connect the two tool halves with section of small ID pipe and wrap the strap around a large pipe and swing the combination to turn the large pipe and perhaps use the left grip lever also for small movements

    The bottom tool appears to have a foot grip (upside down).

    Its not a foot grip , its too small.
    The strap is for holding something and the cross hatched plate is so it does not slip

    The leather strap seems to have letters stamped on it. Any help?

    Ahhh, Davey..... you never disappoint!!!!!

    those pistol grips make me want to pull or push , after releasing the locking mechanism ..... not twist !

    the wood handle one has a nice smooth crown......while the other has been sawed.....off...or down....

    I wonder if something connected the two parts...????

    The metal loops for the strap look to have been added on/not original to it.

    My cousin thinks they are for gripping wire or rope as a climbing aid.
