Mortar and Pestle with Latin and figures

Hi all I just acquired this unique mortar and pestle.. it has writing all over (in Latin I think) and the date MCCCCCXXII (but unsure if this is the date it was made or an event that occurred that someone wanted to memorialize in the piece as I can’t read it. Each piece both mortar and pestle have join seams. I’ll going to try and upload pictures. Could someone help me with Origins and a Date (unless 1522 seems right) ..It is extremely heavy and has a sound like a bell when the two pieces bang together.

 

1873 = MDCCCLXXIII
There is a San Filippu on Malta
Google changes "Mee Fecito" into "Me Fecit" (Latin) = "He Made Me"

Do this for the rest of it and you may start to solve the riddle.

Sorry, google made a substitution. I do not know.

 

A proper Latin date would not have 5 C's together.

 

None of the writing seems to make sense in any language...
And the Roman numerals for 1522 are MDXXII.
Could it be some sort of "ancient-style" souvenir piece?
How about a photo of the bottom?

 

Here is the bottom. There really isn’t anything there.. just some scratches. My husband And I are starting to think the language is an old form of Sicilian. We are finding a few of the words in language study texts. (This item was purchased in Sicily)

 

I know that’s why I am stumped. It seems very old but doesn’t make much sense. I also had the thought of an old souvenir piece but why wrote nonsense into an obviously large heavy piece of brass.

 

It might be helpful if you could transcribe the text for us, as you see it, so we don't have to try to piece them together from the photos.

 

And while you're at it - where is the pestle?

 

It’s a reproduction, and never used. If you translate you may find what museum or church the original is in.

Fist line: San Filippv Mee Fecit MCCCCCXXII. Mathev
Second line: TVCTV MESTRVIV PER (symbol with a circle and a star) TVASALVTI SINOCHI GRIDARI
Third line (in between the figures) SER RA(circle with star inside) (three dots in a column) LIA VRI THI MEV (With figures between each three letter word.

 

No picture of a "group" in the first picture in this thread. Is it somewhere else?

 

I could get behind reproduction of an ancient mortar and pestle but I think if it is.. probably an old repro. It has been used quite a bit… the inside and pestle are well worn.
