Big pot, some definite damage to the lid, and the light colored part, sadly.

For whatever it's worth, I've had a tough time selling these in my little cornet of the world. But they're also not anything I'm particularly knowledge about, so... maybe I'm wrong.

I've got 6 marked jugs and crocks up for sale, no interest at all. They are cool but too heavy to lug across the country. I thought the Joanna crowd would love them for their "farmhouses"... but nope.

Too big for beans and not the right shape anyway. *crs* has a better idea than beans.

I agree, that’s just how I saw them described - but come to think of it, that was a smaller one.

I also agree it could be a hard sell - after all, I don’t want to keep it either :p

There are some catalog pages in the back of the Sanford's book. To me, this looks most like a preserve jar with stone lid from the 1926 catalog. It came in 1/4 all the way up to 6 gallons--guess they liked their preserves, unless "preserve" was used as a verb. As *crs* said--kraut.

Thanks! I wasn’t sure at all how old it was. The 6 gallon one must weigh a ton.
