    Hi all
I have just brought this oil painting from one of auction house in France. It has been described as 1828 oil painting. However, when I had a chance to look at it closer I think the year written might have been 1628 (see pictures).

I have been researching on the internet to find out more about the painter (Eugenie du Bourg) but unfortunately I did not get anything much apart from information in the advertisement from the auction house that sold the painting to me. I think it the stretcher and frame may have been replaced.

I would be interesting to know what you think about the period of the painting considering other factors such as style of the painting, or painter. Thank you so much for helping me on this. Have a lovely day.

I'd say 19th C. I don't see this type of sentimentality as coming from the 17th C. Pretty much everything about this painting says 19th C (or later) to me.

Thank you so much for your input. I actually agree it does not seem that old to be from 17th century. Probably just a blurry paint on the number.

I agree. A little sentimental genre scene. 1800s.
